First let me say that I am hooked on slabbing. Slabbing a new piece of material gives me a new surprise everytime I open the lid, I know that I am the first person to ever see the inside of that particular stone. To unlock the gem or the picture that hides inside of that chunk of rock still inspires awe in me. I open the saw and pick it up and look at it and its "oooohhhh" or "aaahhhhhhh" or "Hey Honey, come look at this one" (she is probably tired of hearing that by now). Everytime one of my friends comes over and we hear the saw stop we have to open it up and see whats inside. It is like perpetual christmas, open the cover, check out your new present, reset the cut, and wait for christmas again! It never seems to get old. I usually have 2 saws running continously while I am at home, unless I am having motor troubles, or belt problems, or time to clean the oil problems, but that is part of what it is all about, fixing things and keeping things running is part of the fun. If you have not tried this yet, be careful, it will cause you to spend money and neglect some of your other duties, but it is Perpetual Christmas, and thats gotta be worth something!
